POP Lifestyle | Where do I start?

Hi guys,

This post is another in the Q&A series from my caloriescoutner profile.  If you would like to get ideas of how my days look like you can click the link on the right “Bikini Competition Daily Menu” and my user name is esseliberefitness – surprise 🙂

I think the hardest thing is to start, stay motivated, and also what to do once you get there. And I think that is something that I would like to write weekly post about on how to start and keep on succeeding and make it a regular post just as Metabolic Trigger Response Workout and POP Nutrition Lifestyle because I did not know where to start and I wish I did.

Hi.. Just read your profile and wanted to drop you a few lines.

First of all congrats on getting so fit. I am at where you started in size. I weigh 197 but am a size 16. Actually yesterday I fit into a snug size 12 dress i had hidden way in the back of the closet. YAY!

Anyhow I have a long way to go. My goal is to get to 165 first and hopefully lower than that eventually. But 165 for now seems so far away. I would love to get into strength training.

How did you do it? What was your journey? Do you have any tips you might want to share? Did you do a lot of cardio or more strength?

Thanks

Hello,
And congratulations on your road to a health and confidence.

I would say that finding what you like will help you stick with it. That said I did not used to particularly care for weight training but once I saw the result that it gives it totally changed my prospective. I love weights and body weights conditioning – that’s my cardio this days (I raise the heart rate by varying intensity -HIT or TABATA protocols). I am not against running or cycling. I used to love running but my knees and hips not so much- mostly from abusing when I was younger. It is a lifetime process because we as humans mostly not satisfied and end up chasing the elusive goals. Over time I realized the value of health vs just loosing weight. Because once you loose it there is no more chasing no more goals and that is when most people fall back into old habits or become obsessed with food and exercise – and I mean unhealthy obsession. I would say success to long-term happiness and satisfaction and health is 33.3 % food and 33.3 % exercise, 33.3% emotional well-being. I noticed that when I am not taking care of myself spiritually I tend to overeat and not be productive during workouts and depressed. So everything suffers. And really does not matter what are your convictions we all need to take care of our inner being not just the outside. I used to think I have no will or backbone when I would eat the entire ridge of food in one sitting. Deep down I needed to resolve the issues that were eating me away so I punished myself even more. That was a way to be numb even for a moment. I am still working a lot of things out but I realized that when I am not healthy and overeat/ or eat greasy and unhealthy foods and do not get exercise I abuse myself and I cannot be a good mother or example for my son. Food should be nutritious and nurturing not damaging. Food is life. Exercise is Energy. Spiritual well-being is is the glue that holds us together.

I have a blog where I have nutritional recipes and workouts. If you like I can send you a pdf of a complete month worth of exercises and also nutritional guidance.

Also do not beat up yourself for a slip just shake it off and look forward to a new opportunity even if that mean not reaching for the last chip in the bag. It is a step no matter how small or big. Also do not let other control your emotions when it comes down to eating healthy and exercising. I had people though candy and come over and eat pizza or sweets in my face even though they new that I decided to live healthy. Or they will tell me what’s the point of living when you do not get to enjoy – you know the old one live a little. Well I do not think taking a bunch of pills for diabetes, high blood pressure is called living. And it is proven that healthy meals and exercise will help you avoid those illnesses. So stay strong and if you come home and overeat or it will be a family gathering or any other event – acknowledge it and next time come prepared – make sure not to skip meals and may be bring something with you.

I hope this helps. I can go on forever. So if you would like more info let me know.

Many blessings to you and your knew self. You are worth it.

Svetlana
