Balance Rhythm | Comfort Zone on Advanture

All of us have a favorite routine, teacher, moves, or workout equipment when we go to the gym or workout at home. We do 3 sets of 12 of this and 3 sets of 12 for that, walk on the treadmill while being comfy with the tough that we crossed the gym of the list for today.

I have favorite moves I love to do and unless I am paying attention I get cough in limbo. Exactly limbo, becasue I am not seeing result. And when i say results it does not only cover aesthetic changes in my body, I am also talking about progressing in my strength, endurance, agility, balance, and stamina.

I love comfort; yet living a fulfilling life and making progress in your health and fitness means that one is often needs to come out of the comfort zone, change the way they think, re-access their values, ideas, and dreams.

When preparing for the fist competition, my life was far from comfortable. I woke up at 4 am to get tot eh gym so I can be at work by 8am,then come home to my son at 7 or later depending on traffic, spend time with him, make food prep for the next day just to start all over. On teh weekend I could not go out for my favorite Thai food or gelato. After two months of stick regimen you can only imagine how tempting that invitation to go someone B-day party was or when a co-worker was throwing candy and eating pizza and doughnuts in my face. It would be so easy to share slice or have a bite here and there and to enjoy a cookie with my son that we just baked.

Instead, I a simple thank you to everyone else and a promise to myself that once I am done with the competition I can have a bite and still be OK with it.

I placed second in the Fitness Model division and six in the Bikini. There were times I was far outside my comfort zone on that journey.It was then when I realize I do not have thunder thighs, which i thought I am destined to have for the rest of my life. I switched routines, tried a variety of methods, and my lower body responded. Also, my back got the striations that I never thought I could have.

Of course not everyone has to compete to get to the fitness level that they aspire; however, getting out that comfort zone and may be dong 4 sets of 25 would not hurt. A lot of times we make ourselves believe that we can not and that is exactly when we get out of comfort zone, that is where the magic happens.

We witnessed the faith of moms whose families and neighbors weren’t Christians light up with encouragement as we shared the Word of God. We drank thick Turkish coffee with immigrants in a refugee camp, praising and worshiping God together.

So even though it feels good to be settled into a routine, and it’s nice to know what to expect but if you still hoping for that dream body, for that breakthrough in your plateau, step out, and experience the power within that is right there, just waiting for your to ignite it. You will be surprised at how much more you will gain and also be willing to give to those around you.
