POP Nutrition | Harissa Americana

My absolute desire for all things spicy and hot has lead me on a quest of trying and making new sauce recipes. I think, at the end of the day we pretty much have the same foods no matter how we put it: potatoes, pasta, rice, lettuce, greens, meats and seafood. But what makes them special is the combination of fragrant aromas of toasted cardamon, ground cumin, roasted peppers. The list goes on and on. So this time I made Harissa American but with some traditional American herbs that makes it so special I had to share.


  • 3 oz. sun dried tomato
  • 2 tsp. ground cumin
  • 2 tsp. coriander seeds
  • 2 tsp. caraway seeds
  • 2 tsp. smoky paprika powder
  • 1 cup cilantro, chopped
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • juice of one lemon
  • 6 chilli peppers

Cooking Steps:

  1. Soak sun dried tomatoes in boiling water for 30 min. Drain when ready.
  2. Use a kitchen blender fitted with s blade and place all ingredients. Blend until smooth or desired consistency. About 5 min. Enjoy!
